We only tow by request of the owner or law enforcement. We are aware of the tow-a-way problem students & their visitors face each time they go out or even have a friend or family visit them ~ Hopefully this web page will help... Let us know if we have left anything out, that you would like to know.

A tow-a-way doesn't become a legal tow until there is a strap on a tire and hooked to the tow truck. *IF YOU  GET TO YOUR VEHICLE BEFORE YOU THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAS ATTACHED THE STRAP, THEY CAN NOT CHARGE YOU ANY AMOUNT AND HAVE TO RETURN YOUR VEHICLE TO YOU. If they have a 'wheel lift' strap attached to your vehicle, it becomes a legal tow-a-way, yet if you ask them to give you your vehicle back, the can charge you $44.00, one half of the tow-a-way fee. Always be sure to have them give you a receipt. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TO ARGUE WITH A TOW-A-WAY DRIVER, if they will not return your vehicle for free if they don't have a strap connected or for 1/2 of the tow bill, if you can take a picture, even if it's with a cell phone and call the Tallahassee Police Department and request an officer to come to the location.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER: HERES A NEW PLAN READ ABOUT IT. REMEMBER THE TOW-A-WAY COMPANY IS ONLY DOING WHAT THE OWNER / AGENT OF YOUR COMPLEX HAS SIGNED A CONTRACT FOR THEM TO DO...  TOW-A-WAYS...

A ROAM TOWING COMPANY MUST HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THE PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNER OR AGENT 24 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY TOW-A-WAYS THEY ARE PROVIDING ENOUGH PARKING SPACES FOR STUDENT TO HAVE VISITORS, INCLUDING FOR THE MANY PARENTS WHO THEY PROFIT FROM. I SAY START SMALL, REQUEST A SPOT IN THEIR GREEN AREA FOR ANY OVER FLOW OF VEHICLES. BE SURE TO 'PARK SMART' DON'T BLOCK AN ENTRANCE OR EXIT, PRETEND THERE ARE LINE FOR PARKING LIKE AT THE MALL. DO NOT BLACK OR DRIVE ON THE SIDEWALKS. PROVE IS GIVEN THE CHANCE YOU WILL RESPECT THERE NON-PARKING LOT SPACES. LEAVE THE AREA CLEANER THAN IT WAS BEFORE THEY ALLOWED PARKING THERE. ALSO RESPECT YOUR FELLOW TENANTS, TURN THE NOISE DOWN IF YOUR ASKED.  YOU SEE, THE TOW-A-WAY TRUCKS ARE DOING WHAT THE COMPLEX, PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IS ASKING THEM TO DO.  YOU ARE THE ONES PAYING THEM, TRY TO WORK OUT 'SPECIAL PARKING AREAS' FOR SPECIAL EVENTS.... FOOTBALL GAMES, END OF SCHOOL, HOLIDAYS.....  JUST TO PARK THERE ON WEEK ENDS, HEY START A 'LAWN & GARDEN CLUB' OFFER TO MAINTAIN TO SPACE YOU NEED TO USE. WHY DO YOU NEED IT, TO MAKE SURE NO ONE LEAVES AND DRIVES AFTER DRINKING... The outside of any student complex, (ex: The grassy areas in front of The Frog Pond & The Boardwalk Apartments), Parking lots beside nightclubs.When you do park in the right place make sure none of your tires are touching the white lines. On game day, if you drive, go ahead and pay to park, it's a lot cheaper than getting towed away. It will also be best if you ride in a group and take the oldest car thats not shiny & new with a killer sound system! (We never seem to see old beat up cars being towed away) The newer and better sound system you have, tips them off you'll do what ever you can to get it back) Wendy's on Pensacola St. is a common place to be towed from. If you go there to eat be sure to get a receipt. Any place you go to eat, drink or get together, always get a receipt. If you know your going to be there for a while, I'd suggest you pay for something as soon as you get there, the receipt will show the time you arrived, when you pay the tab that receipt will show when you leave. You can use these if your vehicle is towed-a-way and shouldn't have been.

First look for the sign of who does the Tow-A-Ways where you parked or call TPD to see if they reported towing your vehicle. If you know you parked in the wrong place, go ahead and pay the tow fee. Remember storage can't be charge for the first 24 hours, if you are towed on a Sunday, you'll save the 'gate fee' if you wait until Monday to get your vehicle. If your vehicle was towed and you have proof it shouldn't have been, call and ask for an officer to meet you there, make sure you have the proof with you. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LEAVE A VEHICLE ALONE IN THEIR PARKING LOT BLOCKING THEIR GATES, YES THEY CAN TOW IT TOO>>

We know it seems as if their are a lot of tow-a-way companies in Tallahassee. The truth is There are just a hand full. They are the ones who have Tow-A-Way signs at the entrance of most parking lots near campus. You may also call TPD to request a list of these PEOPLE.. There fast & have a small fleet of trucks and yes they are out to get as many vehicles as they can..

In todays world most people have a phone that will take a picture, or a digital camera. GET IN THE HABIT OF TAKING A PICTURE WHEN YOU PARK. JUST LIKE YOU LOCK YOUR CAR, GET PROOF YOU HAVE PARKED LEGALLY.
